About Us
Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas Joe has always had a love of music. As the oldest of the six Martin children, his musical career has its beginnings in Father Wachter’s religion class at Bishop Carroll High School. Yes, you read correctly: Religion Class! According to his classmates Joe and a couple of other guys in the class opted to bring in heir home stereo system and a few vinyl records instead of homemade cookies and punch to their class Christmas party. Forty-five minutes later after watching their performance, Father Wachter commended them on a job well done and suggested that they consider playing music for a living. Of the group Joe was the only one who took his advice to heart. Ever since his debut performance in religion class, Joe has been performing at school dances, CYO events, singles dances and weddings. Then in 1989 he moved to Kansas City to explore other career opportunities. In his spare time we would pull out his DJ gear and perform. Little did he know that one of his side gigs would land him a jackpot of a lifetime! Kristie has always had a passion for music in all its forms. As the youngest child of nine she was born and raised in the Kansas City area. From the tender age of 8 years old she began singing in the school choir and taking piano lessons. After a few lessons, her piano instructor discovered she had the gift of a “musical ear”. She participated in several local piano competitions until her beloved teacher’s death. After her piano days were over she maintained singing in choir but turned her interests to theater and sports. Not wanting the spotlight, she accepted “extra” roles in productions but primarily worked behind the scenes. In addition, she took voice instruction from Marilyn Walker, a well know opera coach, while earning her psychology degree at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas. After graduation, she returned back to Kansas City and was voted as President of S.A.S.S.Y. (St Agnes Singles Society). During her Presidency little did she know that God had a plan of a lifetime for her that was about to be revealed! Our Love Story
One weekend Joe and Kristie drove to Wichita to spend the day with his maternal grandparents. All day long, Grandpa Lubbers kept teasing how wonderful we look together as a couple and how he should just call the priest right then and there to marry us on the spot. There was just one problem ~ we weren’t dating each other at the time. It wasn’t long before cupid’s arrow struck us both because on June 29, 1996 we entered St. Agnes Catholic Church once again, where it all started, but this time into the holy bonds of matrimony. As it’s been said before, “…and the rest is history”. For the past 10 years we have been entertaining as a couple. From performing for the winter Special Olympics, to 5K races, anniversaries, corporate holiday parties and weddings one thing holds true, “WE LOVE WHAT WE DO” and so will you!
